How to reach
Sela pass is just 72km away from Tawang. You can easily reach there by private cars or by renting vehicles.
The nearest airport near Tawang is Salonibari airport located in Tezpur, Assaam. It takes 10-12hours to reach Tawang from there.
The nearest railway station is again at Tezpur. This railway line is connected to the majority of the cities in India. The journey by road is the best way to explore the place.
The Best Month to visit
Although Sela pass is open throughout the year the month of October, November, and March to May is the most favorable time to visit as the snowfall is comparatively less.

Sela pass connects Tawang to the rest of India. Surrounded by 101 lakes all around this place is a sacred place in Tibetan Buddhism.
The Sela lake or the Paradise lake adds more charm to the surrounding making it more alluring and a major attraction of the area. During the winter season, the lake freezes and gives a crystal blue surface which makes it more charming. The entire route has snowclad mountain views for travel freaks. During summer there is luscious vegetation all over the place which invites yaks and other grazing animals from the place.
An inner line permit is necessary to enter the state of the northeast which is easily available online at around INR 100-400. Also before going there you can call the locals and ask about the snowfall as it may block the road and complicate your tour.
