The pearl of kashmir, or the Venice of Jammu & Kashmir is a magnificent city where thousands reside on the shores of lakes and rivers which form the major part of the town. Srinagar one of the
most beautiful Indian city which is known for its culture, its climate and its natural beauty and is a perfect place to visit as a family or with friends. Thousands of tourists visit Srinagar every year, as they can see many things that can’t be anywhere on earth and also is the capital of J & K at winter. The major attraction of Srinagar is, of course the Dal lake which is the base of attractions in the city. Also the Jhelum river is a significant river as many attractions stands besides the river.

meters was believed to be founded in 3rd BC by the Maurya Emperor Ashoka. It also has an approximate area of 300 kilometer square. It was centered around major water bodies like the Jhelum river, Dal lake and many other lakes. It is a more cooler place than the rest of India due to its northern position and a higher altitude, which makes it a good tourist attraction. Srinagar has many schools and Higher educational opportunities which shows clearly that the town gives importance to education. the town also has many temples and religious places.

Srinagar is an around the year destination for travelers. Anyone can enjoy Srinagar at any time of the year. The spring Summer makes Srinagar gorgeous as meadows and gardens with flowers start
blooming all over Srinagar making it a visual treat. As Srinagar is a town with many gardens and parks spring summer makes a great time to get there with family. One can enjoy the beauty of Dal lake and many gardens surrounding it. The months of mid-March to June are known as the peak time for the tourists. The perfect climate and natural beauty with many gardens like Asia’s largest Tulip garden can make your mind blowing. Its okay if you cant visit Srinagar at Summer, Srinagar has other surprises for you. To be frank there is no off season for Srinagar. It is alive all over the year waiting for people to come. The winter Srinagar offers a heavenly view of the snow covered mountains and frozen lakes. Frozen lakes are converted into play areas by locals, actually you might even not know that a lake existed there. The snow covered mountains are a scenic view most of the people will surely love the sight. The hills of Gulmarg are converted into ice skiing arena where skiers from all over the world comes to Gulmarg in Winter.

Srinagar International Airport has daily flights to Jammu, Delhi, Leh, Chandigarh and also has international flights occasionally. (Official Website).
Nearest Railway Station: Srinagar has its own Railway Station (See Map), But it is not connected to the All India Rail Network. So traveling from distant places to Srinagar by train is not advisable. It only has a 119 kilometer long railway line. But in the near future it will be connected to the rail network.
Roadways: Srinagar is a major town in North India and is well connected to other parts of the country
by roadways National Highway 1A  passes through Srinagar and forms a major connection. Approximate road distances to other towns are:
Jammu : 300 Km
Leh : 420 Km
Delhi : 860 Km
