Tiruchirappalli or Trichy

Tiruchirappalli city also called Tiruchi or Trichy as their short names is administrative headquarters of Tiruchirappalli district. The city is credited with being the cleanest city of Tamil Nadu, also fifth safest city for women in India & also the 4th largest city in the state. Tiruchi is one of the shopping hubs in Tamil Nadu. Tiruchirappalli economy is has various contributions that includes tanneries, cigar-manufacturing, engineering equipment manufacturing and fabrication, gemstone cutting & polishing and the place is known all over for its temples and their dated architecture.

When to visit?


Since, the city lies on the Deccan Plateau the days are extremely warm and dry and because of the location; the mega polis experiences a tropical savanna climate. All around the year, the weather is generally characterized by high temperature and low humidity which makes the city is the hottest in the state. Some of the tourists prefer visiting in winter i.e. from December to February and is indeed the best season to explore the place but in winters the city receives the highest rainfall so majority of the tourist prefers going during the month of January, February & early March as you can get pleasantly cool weather, temperature ranging around 19°C to 22°C. Winters are relatively cool and comfortable.

How to reach?

By Road:

The Southern part of India is well-connected to the district Trichy, especially Chennai. There are almost 142 buses that do to and fro on daily basis from Chennai to Tiruchi including private and public buses. You can also take a road trip from Chennai which will take you about 6 hours approximately to cover 332 kms. The bus ticket price is Rs. 330 per head.

By Railways:

The city has its own railway station which known as Tiruchirappalli Junction. This railway station connects is very well-connected with Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra and in Southern part of the country like Chennai, Mysore, Rameswaram, Tirunelveli, Pondicherry, Coimbatore, Mangalore and Madurai. The distance between the railway junction and the city is less than 4kms which can be easily covered by walking, moreover local cabs and taxis are also available for you.

By Airways:

Tiruchirappalli International Airport is situated in the city itself. It connects the city to all the chief cities, states and other countries as well for example Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Mysore, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Sharjah by frequent flights.
