Shravasti Tourism Guide

Shravasti district is located on Rapti River and part of Indian state Uttar Pradesh. Its administrative headquarters is Bhinga town and the city is one of the 6th largest cities in India from the time of Gautam Buddha. The city is known by the name of “Land of Buddha” because it is believed that he has spent 24 Chaturmases here and it is said that devotees from Thailand, Tibet, Korea and Singapore come here once in their lifetime as a ritual.

Best Time To Visit

The city is located in the Northern part of India and the climate of the region is called semiarid dry climate. The summers and monsoons are dry and winters are bearable. The best to explore the places is October and November and February to April i.e. in early winters and spring season.

How To Reach

By Road

The NH 730 passes through Shravasti and connects Shravasti to Philibit, Kheri, Gola, Paranpur and more. The state highway 30 connects the town with Lucknow, Kushinagar, Allahabad, Rewa, Jabalpur, Raipur etc. The UPSRTC buses do to and fro from Lucknow to Shravasti on hourly basis. 

By Rail

There are two railway tracks; Balrampur station at 17kms away from the city and Gonda Junction at 50kms. It is advisable to opt for Gonda Junction because it is well connected to other parts of India. From Gonda Junction you can take sharing taxis or local autos or even book a cab to your destination. 

By Air

The nearest airport is Chuadhary Charan Singh International Airport in state’s capital city Lucknow. The airport is approx 200kms away from the city head. You can book a cab from airport to Shravasti. The minimum price of flight ticket is Rs2100.
