The Magnificent Waterfall in Jharkhand

Dasham Fall / Dassam fall / Dassam Ghagh is located near Taimara village at Ranchi in Jharkhand. The water falls from a height of 44 meters. The water source is Kanchi River, a side-stream of Subernekha River and the cascade streams into 10 drops. The water echoes are heard all over the place. Earlier, the tourists were engaged in activities like bathing or swimming competitions but those are now banned by the authorities primarily because of high current flowing and the place has reported 9 deaths. To witness the fall at its peak level is in August but for a picnic outing, the preferred time is between Decembers to January. In the monsoon season the water level rises to 1000 meters. The government also facilitates parking. The parking fee is Rs.30 for a day. The place is open for 24 hrs but is advised not to go after 4pm because it gets pitch-black and isolated. This is considered as one of the best waterfalls in Jharkhand.

How to Visit?

Road –

The nearest bus stand is Birsa Munda in Ranchi. It is 25kms away from the Dassam fall. The bus stand is connected to waterfall by National Highway 25. Autos or pre –booked cabs are available 24/7.

Railway –

The closest station is Ranchi railway station. It is about 26kms away from the waterfall. Local options like private taxi or auto and sharing autos are also available. The trains do to and fro from Ranchi to Kolkata, Patna, New Delhi, Amritsar, Kota and Jamshedpur etc. 

Airways –

The nearest international airport is Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.The distance is about 31kms and local transport system is available 24/7.
