Massanjore Dam Guide

Massanjore Dam is the dam at Mayurakshi River situated at Massanjore city near Dumka at Jharkhand in India. The dam is also called as Canada Dam or Pearson Dam because the counterpart fund is raised by supplies of wheat from Canada for use in India. The dam is provided with all the facilities for tourists like food stalls in the night and some small shops providing snacks & drinks and you can plan your trip throughout the year as the climate here is not very harsh. Apart from the economic and historical importance, the place is better known as picnic spot and bird watching site because it is covered all around by small hills.

Road –

Massanjore Dam is around 24kms away from Dumka, Jharkhand. The distance is easily covered by bus with amazing scenery outside. There is luxury bus service at night for Dumka-Ranchi-Kolkata. 

Railways –

The distance between Massnajore Dam and Dumka railway station is around 32kms. The train does to and fro from Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad etc.

Airways –

Dumka airport is Sido Kanhu Airport. This is the small airport in service to the city, there are no regular scheduled flights here and mainly use by state government aircrafts. 

The nearest working airport is Birsa Munda Airport in ranchi at distance of approx 280kms. The Jharkhans Transport Department organizes various buses from airport to Dumka and then Dumka to Massanjore Dam at very minimum price for the ease of tourists.
