Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary Guide

Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is located at Unnao district in Lucknow division in Kanpur-Lucknow highway. The sanctuary was renamed in 2015 as Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary. There is a guesthouse inside the sanctuary with all basic amenities for tourists. The sanctuary is one of the many wetlands in India. There is a small deer park inside the sanctuary, barking deer are spotted all over the park and is the main attraction of the park. 

Best Time To Visit

Winters are the best time to go Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary because in winters, migratory birds from Soviet Union are seen in the place. With the onset of spring season migratory birds start going back to their home and complete it by 2nd of March. 

Entry Fees And Time

Entry time for in sanctuary is between 6am to 6pm and entry fee for Indian National is Rs.30 and for foreign nationals in Rs. 350. 

How To Reach

By Road

The Bird Sanctuary is located at Kanpur-Lucknow highway, so there are plenty of state buses from all over Uttar Pradesh. Nearest bus stand is Nawabganj bus stand at 30kms away from the park. From bus stand you can board on private taxis and cabs. 

By Train

Nearest railway station is Kusumbi station at 2kms from the bird sanctuary. 

By Air

The nearest airport is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Amausi in Lucknow at approx 35kms from the sanctuary. You can get to the sanctuary from airport by state run buses, pre-booked cabs or local transportation such as auto and taxis. Lucknow airport is connected to all over the places.
