Places To Visit in Malhar

Malhar is a small town in Bilapsur district of Indian state Chhattisgarh. The town is home to very ancient temples of Hindus and also some Jain memorials with artistic idols. The temples here have rare and uncommon architecture and the government runs a Museum here that tells the history of Malhar as mentioned in epic Ramayana and Mahabharata. This little town is named under “Ancient Monuments and Archeological sites and Remains of National Importance as is maintained by Archeological Survey of India. 

When To Visit

The weather in Malhar is like any other town/city in the state; subtropical. It means prolong summers and later cool down by curb monsoons. Since, the place is mostly a historical experience, which means tourists have to walk a lot which can be only possible in winters; when the weather conditions are cool and pleasant optimum for sight-seeing.

By Road

Malhar town is just 40kms drive from Bilaspur district, the town lies on National Highway 200 with Raipur and Raigarh on either side. This means the roads are well maintained to drive from either of the two cities. Another option for you is to take CSRTC bus within the state or an overnight or other government buses from any other state of the country. 

By Railways

The district railhead is called Bilaspur Railway Junction distanced at approx 30kms. The railhead is well accessible from Mumbai, New Delhi, and Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajasthan and more. From station there are plenty of local auto and cab available to your destination. In fact, catching up on trains is one of the most convenient and cheapest ways to reach Malhar. 

By Airways

Like many other towns in Chhattisgarh, Malhar dosen’t owns its airport. The nearest serving airport is Swami Vivekananda international Airport in Raipur at approx 165kms from main town area. The airport is well linked to all metropolitan cities of India. Once you get out of airport, you can choose a taxi, auto or even cabs to reach your end in the town.
