All About Khasi Hills

The most visited place in Meghalaya after Shillong is Khasi hills. Khasi hills have the wettest place on earth that Mawsynram and Cherrapunji. With a lot of rain throughout the year, this place offers a soothing vibe to all the travelers with its picturesque hills and luscious green forests.

How to reach

Guwahati airport is located at a distance of about 100kms from East Khasi hills and takes about three and a half hours to reach by road. You can hire a taxi or a cab or book a private car to reach east Khasi hills. Umroi airport is also there in Shillong but it is not connected to major places in India.

The nearest railway station is also in Guwahati which is 104km from east Khasi hills and takes almost 4 hours to reach by road. You can take bus services from Guwahati and shared taxis to reach the place.

Best season to visit

September to March is the best time to visit the place as the climate is favourable for the travellers. The rainy season should be avoided although there is rain throughout the year.

About the place

Home to a wide variety of flora and fauna along with the deep tropical and subtropical forests, this place holds a lot of spots that are worth visiting for. If you want to cover the place then you must spend at least two days of your vacation in this place.

Places like Dawki, Umiam lake, Shillong, and Mawlynnong are the cleanest villages in Asia.
