Tourist Attractions in Coimbatore

Coimbatore is the 2nd largest city in terms of land area in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.Coimbatore serves as an entry and exit point to the bordering state Kerala and timeless hill station called Ooty. The city’s economy has a different aspect that features small scale and large scale industries of textiles, software, automobiles, jewellery, pumps & motors and also renowned for educational institutes and health care facilities.

When to go?

The Coimbatore has hot semi-arid climate which means summers are little hot more humid, making it obvious to rain more than the average during the months of monsoons. Hence, winters and late monsoons i.e. Septembers to March are considered as ideal time to explore the town as weather is pleasant, breezy and comforting to walk around.

How to go?

By Road –

There are two main bus stand in Coimbatore; Gandhipuram Central Bus Terminus & Singanallur Bus Terminus that are served by intra city roads for example Avinashi Road, Trichy Road, Pollachi Road etc. These roads are well connected to many state highways and National Highways making Coimbatore accessible from Hyderabad, Chennai, Erode, Salem, Trirupati, and Madurai, Tirunelveli, Puducherry and more. The bus ticket fair is not fixed. 

Railways –

Coimbatore Junction is the second busiest railway station in Southern Railway Zone after Chennai Central. It operates many passenger and express trains on regular basis to Bangalore, Chennai and covers vast majority of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The cheapest train ticket is Rs. 855 per head. 

By Air –

The city has its own airport called as Coimbatore International Airport located at the distance of 15kms from the main city area. The airport has great connectivity to different parts of the country like Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, kota, Goa, Indore and more. This airport has facility to operate private helicopter rides from Coimbatore to tourist hotspots of Munnar (Kerala), Coorg (Karnataka). The minimum ticket price is Rs 2180 for single person.
