Exploring Tikarpada Wildlife Sanctuary

It is a famous wildlife sanctuary near Tikarpada village, in the Angul district of the Indian state Odisha. This sanctuary is located on the river banks of Mahanadi. It is the place where endangered species are cared for by animal lovers and animal specialists. 

It is a beautiful shelter for the creatures like tigers, Indian pitta, red jungle fowls, pangolins, leopards, wild cats, spotted deer, sloth, and so on. It has also rare species of snakes, turtles, and avifauna. This sanctuary has a collection of the endangered crocodiles and this collection is the most attractive view for the tourists.

It is the perfect place for those who like to do river rafting, boating, and trekking. The people who love adventure must come here for at least once. If anyone wants to get out of his busy and irritating schedule, this place is perfect for him. It will be a great trip to feel the beautiful sky and observe the creatures of nature.

Visiting time

This sanctuary opens at 9 am. It remains open every day of the week. People can visit here for 2 to 3 hours and it is closed at 6 pm.

Best time to visit

The months from October to February are the best time to visit this wildlife sanctuary. The weather in these months remains around 15° to 31° Celsius which is perfect for grabbing its beauty. But as the weather is unpredictable, tourists are requested to carry umbrellas with them.

How to reach

By Air – Biju Patnaik International Airport is nearest from Tikarpada. Tourists can travel up to Cuttack Airport also as this airport is not so far from Tikarpada. Then they can use the bus service or book cabs to reach Tikarpada.

By Train – Tourists may travel up to either Angul or Bhubaneswar railway station to reach here as these are the two nearest railway stations from Tikarpada. Then they can ride cabs to reach the main place.

Local transport – People from the neighbouring cities can use buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws to reach Tikarpada easily and the fares are budget-friendly also.

Road – Reaching here by road is a good way and so many bus service providers always run their buses on the roads of Odisha. Cabs which can take you to Tikarpada, are also available on the roads of Angul and Bhubaneswar.
